Dr. Blount has been the President of Union Theological Seminary & Presbyterian School of Christian Education since May 2008. Prior to his acceptance of the President’s position, he was Professor of New Testament Interpretation at Princeton Theological Seminary from 1992-2007 and Pastor, Carver Memorial Presbyterian Church in Newport News, VA from 1982-1988. Dr. Blount received a B.A. from the College of William and Mary, an M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary and Ph.D from Emory University. He and his wife, Sharon, have a son, Joshua, and daughter, Kaylin. Dr. Blount’s visit to RPC coincides with his presentation at yesterday’s Stated Meeting of Central Florida Presbytery at Wekiva. Our prayers for comfort surround the families of Bill and Dottie Moehle whose son-in-law, Richard McCallum died from a heart attack; Steve and Cindy Mercer whose niece’s husband, Mike McComb (and father of two small children) died following an accident; Bernie Scott whose granddaughter, Sarah Rebecca Bolf, was killed in an auto accident and the family of Jane Habegger, who died this week and was a good friend and neighbor of Rockledge Presbyterian Church.
